The Innovation Story of Ecoterra: Turning Challenges Into Sustainable Solutions.
It all began during our founder’s time as a BIRAC SPARSH Fellow at Villgro Innovation Foundation, Bengaluru, where she focused on combating environmental pollution. With curiosity as her guide, she started asking a simple yet profound question: What pollution problem do you face daily? Over 40 conversations later, the answer was loud and clear—8 out of 10 people pointed to noise pollution as a frequent and frustrating issue.
Motivated by this insight, she dug deeper, researching the solutions available on the market. What she found was concerning: most acoustic treatments relied on glass fibers, which pose serious health risks like lung cancer with prolonged exposure, or formaldehyde-based MDF panels that release harmful VOCs into indoor spaces. It became evident that while the solutions managed sound, they created a different kind of pollution—one that silently harmed health and the environment.
This realization sparked the idea for Ecoterra Acoustics. Driven by a mission to close this gap. After months of research, experimentation, and persistence, we created the Ecoterra Sound Acoustic Panel—a breakthrough product made entirely from recycled plastic, natural fibers, and waste materials. Engineered for high acoustic performance, the panels are not only free of harmful chemicals but are CARB certified and leave no damaging footprint at the end of their life cycle. What started as a question turned into a purpose: to make sound spaces healthier, greener, and better for everyone.
